‘Extremely scary findings’ show climate crisis is supercharging Europe’s wildfire weather

A new scientific analysis says the extreme heat and drought fueling major wildfires in Spain and France this summer bears the clear fingerprint of climate change. The Guardian reports that researchers from the World Weather Attribution consortium found global heating made the hot, dry, windy conditions driving Spain's fires at least twenty times more likely, and twice as likely in France. It's the latest analysis to link this summer's deadly, sweltering conditions across the continent to emissions from burning oil, gas, and coal.
