Rescue operation underway in Pakistan after coal mine collapses
world
A coal mine explosion in Pakistan's Balochistan province has killed at least thirty-four workers, with two miners still missing as rescuers searched through the night, France 24 reports. Inspectors say methane gas caused the blast, which occurred over a kilometre underground and also damaged two adjacent mines. Balochistan is Pakistan's poorest province despite being rich in resources, and the outlet notes mining accidents there are common.
