Firefighters in southwestern France are still working the last hot spots of a massive wildfire that has scorched forty-two thousand hectares of pine forest and tourist areas in the Gironde region near Bordeaux, an area about four times the size of Paris. Published Friday, France 24 reports the fire hasn't spread in several days and officials are cautiously optimistic, but the danger to crews on the line hasn't eased, with more than two hundred thirty firefighters injured and that toll still rising the longer they stay on scene.
