This nurse brings healthcare to people outside a detention center. She says ICE agents assaulted her.

A New Jersey nurse says she suffered a concussion, a fractured kneecap, and other injuries after an ICE officer shoved her to the ground outside Newark's Delaney Hall Detention Facility on Memorial Day, according to The 19th. Norma Bowe, who has run a mobile health clinic outside the facility for more than a year, says she was trying to help a woman being dragged by agents when she was pushed and fell face-first onto the concrete. She has since filed a claim seeking five hundred thousand dollars in damages, one of fifty-four claims filed by ACLU affiliates in seventeen states and Washington, D.C. over alleged harms by immigration authorities. Under federal law, such claims must first go through an administrative process, giving the government six months to respond before the ACLU can escalate to a lawsuit.
