Researchers devise a full-color night vision goggle
science
Ars Technica reports that researchers at Beijing Institute of Technology have created an infrared imaging device that works like night-vision goggles, but with a critical difference: it shows heat in full color instead of monochrome green. The team, led by Xin Tang and Ge Mu, stacked mercury telluride colloidal quantum dots—which capture infrared radiation—with a dual-layer OLED display that translates that energy into visible color. This gives users a view of the infrared world that more closely resembles natural vision than traditional green-tinted night goggles.
