America Is Creating a DNA ‘Noah’s Ark’ for More Than 2,300 Endangered Species

A biotech startup known for its ambitions to resurrect the woolly mammoth is now partnering with the US Fish and Wildlife Service to preserve living endangered species. According to io9, they're creating a genetic repository—a DNA archive—for more than twenty-three hundred American species at risk of extinction. Rather than waiting to reverse extinction, the startup is banking genetic material as a backup for species conservation efforts.
