High-Speed Train Noise Emission Standards

politics

The Transportation Department is proposing new noise emission standards for high-speed trains. The proposed rule would create an alternative standard for trains traveling between one hundred sixty and two hundred twenty miles per hour, and a special approval process for trains exceeding two hundred twenty miles per hour. Existing noise regulations for trains traveling up to one hundred sixty miles per hour would remain unchanged. According to the Federal Register, the proposal aims to remove a regulatory barrier to high-speed rail development while continuing to protect public health and welfare.
