Why so many therapy etc. frameworks think they're The One True Approach
health
If you've spent any time exploring therapy or self-help, you've likely noticed the same pattern: everyone claims to have found the one true approach. Internal Family Systems says work through trauma slowly and carefully. Psychedelic therapy says rapid exposure is the only way. Cognitive behavioral therapy focuses on correcting distorted thoughts. Others insist the answer is exercise, nutrition, or meditation. Why do these frameworks all believe they're right? According to LessWrong, each one genuinely works best for a particular kind of problem. A bacterial infection requires antibiotics; high blood pressure responds to exercise, diet changes, or medication depending on the person. Mental health operates the same way. Trauma responds to processing, but depression might need medication, therapy, sleep, or social connection. The pattern: minds are complex, and different issues need different solutions.
