The Guardian reports that wildfires are straining emergency crews across Greece, France, and Spain, but there's rare good news out of the southwest: the sprawling 'megafire' in France's Gironde region has stopped spreading. French Interior Minister Laurent Nuñez says the blaze, which tore through about forty-two thousand hectares — roughly one hundred three thousand eight hundred acres — is now contained, according to the newspaper Le Monde.
