Colorado declares town abandoned amid water and leadership crisis

Hartman, a small town in southeastern Colorado, has been declared abandoned after all of its local leaders resigned amid a drinking-water crisis. Per The Guardian, the town's water had gone without chlorine for more than a month, making it undrinkable and foul-smelling. Residents formally requested the abandonment declaration, a step taken amid infighting among town officials.
