Africa: Fighting erupts in Ethiopia's Tigray

Clashes have broken out between the TPLF and Ethiopia's federal army in a contested part of Tigray, raising fears of a renewed war, France 24 reports. Mediation efforts by the US and African Union appear to have failed to head off the escalation. The last Tigray war, fought from twenty twenty to twenty twenty-two, left six hundred thousand dead, and the region still has not recovered.
