Chill Buddhism
other
Per LessWrong contributor Jonas Hallgren, a more relaxed approach to meditation practice could benefit communities that have become too intense about Buddhism. Hallgren proposes 'Chill Buddhism' — a framework centered on becoming peaceful and happy, rather than pursuing complex spiritual goals. The core practice is yoga nidra, a twenty to thirty minute guided relaxation that Hallgren says delivers the benefits of a nap without requiring sleep, boosting afternoon productivity while reducing stress. He also recommends open awareness practice: simply sitting or walking while allowing your mind to settle. The key principle: only adopt practices you can personally verify improve your work, relationships, or health, rather than accepting promises on faith alone.
