Relentless UK heatwaves turn ‘green and pleasant land’ brown

Half of England and Wales are officially in drought, with July set to become the driest month on record, according to the Guardian. This marks the third drought event in five years, following four record-breaking heatwaves since May. The extreme heat has intensified the visible impact of the climate crisis, fueling massive wildfires and leaving farmers, wildlife, and protected habitats critically short of water.
