Teenager didn’t tell anyone Alan Jones allegedly kissed and touched him as he feared losing financial help, trial hears

world

Alan Jones, the eighty-five-year-old former 2UE and 2GB radio broadcaster, is on trial in Sydney facing twenty-two charges, to which he has pleaded not guilty. A former schoolboy athlete, identified in court as Complainant J, testified he didn't tell anyone that Jones was allegedly kissing and inappropriately touching him when he was a teenager, fearing he'd lose Jones's financial support. He alleged that after driving Jones to a function in Canberra, the two were alone in a hotel room where Jones kissed him in what he described as a 'smothering' way, and that Jones later increased his weekly stipend by one hundred dollars, telling him he didn't need to mention the money to anyone since it was 'a gift'. The Guardian is reporting on the trial as it continues.
