As Ceuta returns to normal, far right vilifies Spain's immigration policy

world

The death toll from last week's mass border rush into the Spanish enclave of Ceuta has reached at least seventy-two, France 24 reports, after five more bodies were found along the North African coast. Moroccan authorities, for their part, report eleven deaths. Around sixty thousand people crossed from Morocco into Ceuta, with more than forty-eight thousand returning to Morocco within forty-eight hours and more over the weekend, Spanish officials said. Ceuta has since returned to calm, though the incident has become a political flashpoint, with the far right attacking Pedro Sánchez's government over its immigration policy.
