Your agent needs a computer, not a container — introducing @cloudflare/computer

Cloudflare is shipping at cloudflare slash computer, an open-source library that provides AI agents a virtual computer—filesystem, runtime, execution tools—instead of relying on traditional containers. The motivation: scaling millions of agents with containerized compute isn't feasible; there simply isn't enough capacity globally. Their solution leverages isolates, lightweight compute that Cloudflare has perfected over years, which handle most agent work and invoke containers only when necessary. Each agent gets file tools, code execution capability, and the intelligence to choose the right environment for each task. The goal: keep container usage below ten percent, with isolates powering data processing, code generation, and documentation—all the work that doesn't require a full Linux environment.
