politics
Per Meduza, Ukrainian President Zelensky is naming Rustem Umerov to head the Foreign Intelligence Service. Umerov had been serving as secretary of Ukraine's National Security and Defense Council—the country's chief representative in negotiations with the United States and Russia over ending the war. Zelensky says Umerov will continue coordinating key areas including U.S. cooperation, defense, diplomacy, negotiations to end the war, and the drone sector. Ihor Klymenko, a former Internal Affairs Ministry head, is taking over Umerov's position as NSDC secretary. Umerov has held the NSDC role since July twenty twenty-five and previously served as Ukraine's defense minister.
