Blanche poised for confirmation vote after he kills Trump's fund

politics

Acting Attorney General Todd Blanche rescinded President Trump's anti-weaponization fund on Sunday to clear a blockade on his Senate confirmation vote. Axios reports the fund had grown from a May settlement of Trump's lawsuit against the IRS over tax record disclosure. Blanche killed the fund's implementing order, but the settlement itself may remain enforceable—only Trump can change it in writing. The Judiciary Committee votes Tuesday, with Senator John Cornyn signaling the rescission may satisfy him. Trump complicated matters Saturday by threatening to revive the fund if Blanche loses his favor, leaving the confirmation vote in doubt.
