England and Wales record driest July on record, Met Office says

England and Wales have just experienced their driest July on record, the Met Office says—the first time this has occurred since official weather records began in eighteen thirty-six. The severe lack of rainfall combined with warm, sunny conditions has left much of the region notably parched.
