On August third, Cubans protested with pots and pans on their balconies after the sixth nationwide power outage of the year. As the national grid began restoring electricity, adverse weather conditions triggered a second collapse. Per France 24, the successive outages are spoiling food, reducing supplies of treated drinking water, and compromising public services across the island.
