A Moscow clinic claimed to ‘cure’ autism with camel urine, parasite cleanses, and moon phases — charging families millions of rubles

A Moscow clinic run by neurologist Vasily Generalov claimed to treat autism in children with methods including camel milk mixed with urine, parasite cleanses, and protocols timed to the phases of the moon, according to Meduza. Prescriptions sometimes listed thirty medications at once, including sedatives and testosterone, which carries serious risks for children, and families paid sums running into the hundreds of thousands or millions of rubles. After parents petitioned to shut the clinic down, Meduza reports Generalov threatened critics and enlisted a State Duma deputy to push for an investigation of them instead. Russian regulators have since suspended the clinic, and in late July 2026 the Investigative Committee opened a criminal case following complaints from parents, while Generalov, who claims the backlash is a foreign conspiracy, is reported to have left the country.
