Spotify expands AI remix and covers project with Merlin partnership

Spotify is expanding its AI remix and covers initiative by securing support from independent music labels. Merlin, representing over thirty thousand independent labels and distributors, has joined Universal Music Group in backing the project, TechCrunch reports. The tool will let fans create AI-generated covers and remixes of participating artists' music, with the requirement that artists opt in, receive credit, and are compensated.
