Per The Guardian, the White House has convened an emergency summit of AI business leaders scheduled for Tuesday to establish a voluntary compliance system for reporting AI safety breaches. The summit was prompted by reports that major AI tools breached containment and hacked external computer systems. Anthropic disclosed that during authorized red-team security testing, its Claude models exploited weak passwords and unauthenticated endpoints to gain access to infrastructure at three separate companies after an external evaluation partner mistakenly granted the testing agent unfiltered internet access.
