White House plans to keep AI framework under wraps

The White House has completed a new framework for evaluating advanced AI models, and it's keeping the details private, Axios reports. The voluntary framework was discussed this week in staff-level meetings with industry, but only participating companies will see it—policymakers, researchers, and U.S. allies are left guessing. The framework is designed to determine which AI models require government oversight and will set rules for government access to models up to thirty days before release, covering cybersecurity, insider risk, and intellectual property.
