OpenAI to pay $3.2M to settle DOJ worker discrimination case

Axios reports that OpenAI agreed on Tuesday to pay three point two million dollars to settle Justice Department allegations that the company discriminated against American workers by preferring temporary visa holders for positions. The settlement covers fewer than ten jobs, but the DOJ says the company didn't post openings publicly before filling them, and instead discouraged U.S. applicants through tactics like requiring mailed applications and advertising positions on late-night radio. OpenAI says it disagrees with the findings but settled to move forward with its permanent labor certification program for employees needing immigration support. The company must now post all jobs on its career site, accept electronic applications, and allow DOJ monitoring. This settlement is the Trump administration's thirteenth enforcement action since launching an initiative in twenty twenty-five to strengthen hiring protections for U.S. workers.
