CalMatters reports that undocumented immigrants over age nineteen can no longer enroll in new coverage starting January first, though those currently enrolled keep benefits if they renew on time. Refugees and asylum seekers will transition to limited fee-for-service coverage in January twenty twenty-seven, then lose full benefits six months later. Working-age adults without dependent children must now demonstrate eighty hours of monthly work or volunteer hours to maintain coverage, with exemptions for students, disabled individuals, and parents. Beginning July twenty twenty-seven, seniors and disabled individuals face new asset caps: twenty-one thousand dollars for individuals, thirty-one thousand for couples. State officials urge anyone receiving renewal notices to respond immediately; those who lose coverage have ninety days to reapply without starting from scratch.
