Trump killed the Digital Equity Act, but US was forced to bring part of it back

Per Ars Technica, the Trump administration will reinstate a broadband grant program after a court order prevented it from completely eliminating the Digital Equity Act of 2021. The government will begin accepting applications in December. The Trump administration secured a partial victory, though: the court ruled that grant funding cannot be allocated based on the race or ethnicity of beneficiaries. The program can still distribute money based on income, age, and disability. Congress enacted the Digital Equity Act in 2021 with two point seven five billion dollars to close broadband access gaps, and the Biden administration began awarding grants from that fund in 2022.
