Sri Lanka shuts schools as floods and mudslides kill 7

Sri Lanka has closed schools after floods and mudslides killed seven people, Al Jazeera English reports. Officials say the torrential rains have damaged one hundred twenty-nine houses and forced the evacuation of nearly three thousand five hundred people. The island nation is prone to seasonal monsoon flooding that regularly displaces communities in low-lying and hillside areas.
