Per The Guardian, a UK parliamentary report has concluded that over-the-counter flea treatments for cats and dogs should be banned. These topical, spot-on treatments contain insecticides that are banned as pesticides, yet millions of these hazardous chemicals are applied to UK pets each year. The treatments pollute waterways, and veterinarians often recommend them preventively—even when animals don't have fleas.
