Russian attack on Kyiv kills at least 17 as Zelenskyy calls for better air defences

Russian strikes hit Kyiv overnight, killing at least seventeen people and injuring twenty-seven, according to the Guardian. Ukrainian emergency officials said the attack also damaged warehouses, and air raid alerts sounded for more than an hour as the assault continued. The Guardian reports Ukraine was unable to shoot down any of the missiles involved. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy is calling for stronger air defences in response.
