WriteGuard: fine-grained controls for MCP Servers

dev_tools

An AI agent that keeps closing tickets all afternoon, hundreds at a time—that's the kind of runaway problem Cloudflare wanted to prevent. So the company built WriteGuard, a policy and auditing layer for MCP servers that sits between agents and the tools they use. According to Cloudflare Blog, WriteGuard lets teams control which actions agents can take, add labels so downstream systems know when a human versus an agent made a change, and track everything in a central audit log. It can pass agent requests through unchanged, enrich them with attribution, or block dangerous ones before they execute. Cloudflare is already using it across twenty-seven internal MCP servers and bringing the controls to customers in a private beta.
