Ukrainian intelligence says Russia plans to deploy North Korean missile unit in the Voronezh region

world

Ukraine's military intelligence says Russia is preparing to station a North Korean missile unit in the Voronezh region, according to Andrii Cherniak of Ukraine's Main Intelligence Directorate, as reported by Reuters. The roughly ninety-person unit would join Russia's 112th missile brigade and could field up to one hundred twenty North Korean ballistic missiles and six launchers, with Pyongyang already having sent a new batch of forty KN-23 and KN-24 missiles and personnel. Cherniak said final deployment details are expected to be settled in talks next month. Ukraine's foreign minister said any such launchers would become a legitimate military target once deployed, a warning that follows Russia's first use of North Korean ballistic missiles against Ukraine in the past year this past July.
