Addressable LEDs Make Giant 16×2 Character Display
tech
Hackaday is reporting on a maker who built a giant sixteen by two character LCD display — seven times its normal size — entirely from over a thousand addressable LEDs. Rather than attempt the nearly impossible task of making liquid crystals at that scale, they created individual PCBs for each character and configured an RP2040 microcontroller with the standard LCD character set. The result plugs directly into Arduino projects expecting the LiquidCrystal library, delivering the authentic sixteen oh two experience in colossal form.
