Only the Hottest Tunes Play on This Fire Organ

Hackaday reports on a propane-powered organ built by maker Look Mum No Computer — a far cry from the traditional air or steam instruments. The organ creates sound by pumping propane through copper pipes, then ignites the gas for a visual light show. The ignition is controlled by MIDI signals, the same ones that regulate the gas flow, using spark plugs and ignition coils borrowed from car engines. Earlier designs used pilot lights, which kept blowing out and wasted fuel, so this setup is actually more efficient. Mounted on a trailer for easy transport, it's already playable enough to perform pieces like Toccata and Fugue, though the tuning still needs work.
