Sudan war threatens ancient Meroe pyramids, a UNESCO Heritage Site

Sudan's escalating war is now threatening the ancient pyramids of Meroe, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, Al Jazeera reports. More than two hundred pyramids at the site face danger from the conflict and ongoing neglect. Meroe was once the heart of the Kushite kingdom, one of ancient Africa's great civilizations.
