The twenty-five de Abril Bridge in Portugal is marking sixty years since its nineteen sixty-six opening. Euronews reports the crossing between Lisbon and Almada remains the nation's busiest bridge over the Tagus, handling approximately one hundred fifty thousand vehicles daily. A new road-rail connection between Chelas and Barreiro is now being planned to expand transportation capacity in the region.
