‘Morocco feels emboldened’: Trump’s influence in spotlight after Ceuta disaster

Spain is still reckoning with a sudden surge that saw more than seventy thousand people cross into the tiny territory of Ceuta before being swiftly returned, and scrutiny is now falling on Morocco's close ties with Washington. The Guardian reports that Morocco's King Mohammed the Sixth has named a one billion dollar highway bordering the disputed Western Sahara after Donald Trump, the latest sign of warmth between Rabat and the Trump administration. The paper notes Morocco also pledged this year to be the first African state to join Trump's Board of Peace. The Guardian's reporting does not detail what caused the Ceuta influx itself.
