Ceuta's president, Juan Jesús Vivas, has been briefing EU lawmakers on what he calls a humanitarian emergency in the Spanish enclave, with the death toll now at least one hundred people. The Guardian reports that up to five thousand migrants remain in the city, where Vivas says residents feel sad, helpless, and anxious. Media reports also point to social media posts calling for another attempt to overwhelm the border on August fifteenth, and the European Commission says it's aware of the threat and is stepping up its response.
