A Republican-controlled Senate committee voted to hold Dr. Anthony Fauci in contempt of Congress after he invoked the Fifth Amendment dozens of times during a hearing last week on his pandemic response, The Guardian reports. Fauci, the former director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases who led the agency for 38 years before retiring in 2022, refused to provide clarifying answers during the tense hearing.
