Canadian Man Pleads Guilty in Snowflake Extortions

Per Krebs on Security, a twenty-six-year-old Canadian hacker has pleaded guilty to extorting more than one hundred sixty-five organizations through the cloud storage service Snowflake. Connor Riley Moucka, using aliases including Judische and Waifu, stole login credentials and targeted companies such as TicketMaster, Lending Tree, and Neiman Marcus. Moucka downloaded billions of sensitive records — call and text message histories from over one hundred million AT&T customers, along with financial records, social security numbers, and driver's license data. The extortion scheme generated over two point five million dollars in ransom, with at least one victim extorted twice. Moucka faces sentencing on October twenty-seventh, with a mandatory minimum of two years in prison and a possible maximum of thirty years.
