US-backed Venezuela political transition talks begin without Nobel laureate Machado

Venezuela's interim government and an opposition faction have launched US-backed talks aimed at reshaping the country's political system and laying groundwork for eventual elections. The negotiations started Thursday, France 24 reports, after delays of nearly a week. Notably absent from the table: Nobel laureate Machado, a prominent opposition leader.
