Tennessee voters picked nominees for one of this fall's most closely watched House races. State representative Justin Pearson won the Democratic primary—he was expelled from the Tennessee legislature three years ago for gun control advocacy. Republicans nominated state senator Brent Taylor, backed by Donald Trump. The ninth congressional district, redrawn and critical to Republicans' plans to hold their House majority, sets up a key November battleground between Pearson and Taylor, the Guardian reports.
