A 3D Printed Cycloidal Gearbox

Hackaday is highlighting a compact, three-D-printed gearbox called VANTIX designed for NEMA seventeen and twenty-three stepper motors. Designer Gjhudson2008 engineered it to be as thin as a standard NEMA seventeen axle, though you'll need a stepper with a D-bore that runs all the way down the shaft for it to work. Printing in ABS plastic with a zero point two millimeter nozzle helps hit the tolerances needed for the gears to mesh smoothly, and heat-set inserts plus lubrication keep everything turning.
