Heatwaves bring an early wine harvest in France

France 24 reports that French winemakers in Bordeaux and beyond have begun harvesting grapes earlier than usual, after a summer marked by successive heatwaves, drought, and devastating wildfires. One grape-picker observed that harvest would typically wait until after vacation. Despite the environmental turmoil, winemakers say wine quality will not be affected. Harvest timing has been progressively moving earlier due to climate change, leading some farmers to switch to crops requiring less water.
