Loud, unidentified explosion heard across Moscow

A loud explosion rattled Moscow residents around eleven o'clock, Meduza reports. The sound was heard across multiple districts spanning from Zelenograd in the northwest to Lyubertsy in the southeast. The noise was especially intense in southwestern Moscow — particularly in Konkovo and Solntsevo — where some residents reported feeling a shock wave. The Moscow Emergency Situations Ministry initially said it had no information about the source and detected no signs of smoke or fire. Preliminary reports from Russian security services-linked sources suggest the sound came from an aircraft breaking the sound barrier in the region.
