Lithuanian defense minister warns of possible Russian strikes on Baltic countries using captured Ukrainian drones

Lithuanian Defense Minister Robertas Kaunas is warning that Russia may be planning strikes on Baltic critical infrastructure using captured Ukrainian drones, per Bloomberg News. The goal, he said, would be undermining trust in Ukraine and weakening NATO's support for Kyiv — though Kaunas stressed there is currently no direct threat. Lithuanian intelligence believes Moscow mistakenly thinks Baltic states have allowed Ukraine to use their airspace for drone strikes. That's not true: Lithuania provides Kyiv with financial and technological support but does not permit its airspace for military operations. The misunderstanding may stem from a real pattern: Ukraine has been striking Russian oil refineries in the Leningrad region with drones since spring twenty twenty-six, and some have subsequently fallen in Baltic territories, sparking Russian claims about airspace use.
