Unifying Workers AI and AI Gateway into a single AI control plane

Cloudflare reports that it is consolidating its Workers AI and AI Gateway products into one unified control plane. Developers now use a single API and binding to access any model provider instead of choosing between two separate services. The immediate benefit: automatic logging and observability across all requests—previously a manual setup—plus new unified billing that lets developers spend AI Gateway credits across OpenAI, Anthropic, Workers AI, or any supported provider. The company is also planning model-first routing, where developers specify the model they need and the gateway handles provider selection and failover automatically.
