Trump’s attorney general pick Todd Blanche appears to clear last hurdle for confirmation

Republican Senator Bill Cassidy announced on Friday that he will support Todd Blanche's nomination for attorney general, clearing what appeared to be the final obstacle to confirmation. The Guardian reports that Blanche, Trump's former personal lawyer and a loyal ally of the president, had faced defections from fellow Republicans Lisa Murkowski and Susan Collins, but Cassidy's support now appears to secure the necessary votes.
