Businessman was ‘preparing champagne’ to celebrate Caruana Galizia murder, court hears

world

A taxi driver testified in Malta that he served as the go-between linking Yorgen Fenech to the three men already convicted of carrying out the murder of journalist Daphne Caruana Galizia. According to The Guardian, the court heard Fenech was impatient for the killing to happen, once texting from his boat that he was preparing champagne to celebrate. Fenech, the forty-four-year-old heir to a property empire that includes several Hilton hotels, is on trial for complicity in the twenty-seventeen car bombing that killed Caruana Galizia after she published revelations about senior politicians so damaging they triggered a snap election.
