A coronial inquest into the deaths of fifty residents at St Basil's aged care home in Melbourne has resumed, six years after the tragedy. Konstantin Kontis and Vicky Kos, the home's most senior managers during the outbreak, were compelled to testify after multiple failed attempts to avoid giving evidence. The Guardian reports that families gathered in court to finally hear from the pair, with quiet sobs audible as testimony began. Almost a quarter of the home's 188 residents died from Covid-19 or neglect during July and August of twenty twenty.
